SML Meditree Co., Ltd. (CEO Dong-soo Lee) held a ceremony on the 27th to commemorate the expansion of its clinical trial analysis center.
In 2022, SML Meditree introduced LC-MS/MS instruments as a new analytical platform, recruited specialized personnel, and established the necessary analytical infrastructure. As the growing volume of analytical requests highlighted the need for expanded analytical capacity, the company subsequently added more LC-MS/MS instruments and expanded its facilities, opening an enhanced clinical trial analysis center with strengthened analytical capabilities.
According to the company, LC-MS/MS (Liquid Chromatography-tandem Mass Spectrometry) offers high sensitivity and can be applied to the analysis of a wide range of substances. In particular, the technology provides the advantage of selectively analyzing target substances by separating ions according to their mass-to-charge ratio (m/z).
A company representative stated, “The expanded clinical trial analysis center is equipped with temperature and humidity control systems and dust collection facilities to maintain the performance of analytical equipment. We have also strengthened sample contamination prevention and hazardous material management through the installation of dedicated air supply and exhaust systems.” The representative added, “We also plan to implement a continuous monitoring system and backup system to ensure rigorous sample storage and management.”
Dong-soo Lee, CEO of SML Meditree, said, “The expansion of our analysis center is a proactive response to changes in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology market, where pharmacokinetic studies and clinical trials of biopharmaceuticals are increasing. SML Meditree is a specialized clinical trial sample analysis company that received GCLP (Good Clinical Laboratory Practice) certification from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) in 2019. The company recently appointed Dong-soo Lee as CEO, bringing his extensive experience from pharmaceutical companies including Janssen Korea, GSK Korea, and LG Chem.
